Eva Yoo cycled along the ancient Silk Road as well as One Belt One Road from June 2nd (Shanghai) to February 2nd, 2019 (London) during which she interviewed startup entrepreneurs and held seminars in those countries, utilizing her expertise as a tech reporter. She cycled through 14 countries — China, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Greece, Albania, Croatia, Italy, Switzerland, Paris, the U.K., and South Korea. During the trip, she published a book “Do business like Chinese startups” in Korean explaining how to localize business in Chinese way.
She is originally from Seoul and previously worked as a writer at TechNode in Shanghai, focusing on Alibaba and Tencent. In the past she wrote with Korean tech media beSUCCESS, and has spent time with dozens of entrepreneurs in both Silicon Valley and Tel Aviv reporting on tech culture in the world’s biggest innovation hubs.
Eva is a frequent speaker at Shanghai (Burberry, Rotary Pagoda, Jipyung lawfirm) and Korea (Korean VC community, KT, NEOWIZ and D.CAMP) She co-hosted weekly podcast “Heading to China” with Eliot Shin, and organizes monthly seminar for Korean entrepreneurs in Shanghai, speaking about latest tech trends in China.
Eva previously served as a marketing manager at Korean startup Nalebe, she also participated in the StarTau Entrepreneurship program in Israel and published 11 startup video lessons with Startup consultant Emma Butin. She also hosted a YouTube channel, ISUP, where she has interviewed 100 tech-preneurs. As part of the business development at NewsJelly, she won the first place in the Silicon Valley Korean startup Demo day after a three month accelerator program in Rocket Space.
In the past Eva has also volunteered in Ecuador as a Korean language teacher, and speaks Korean, English, Spanish and Chinese.
